An Experience in Music...

In high school, I had a passion for physics, math, and music. I was simply fascinated by how things worked. Upon graduating, this curiosity lead me to pursue music engineering, recording, and production. This section highlights some of my experiences working in the music industry both as an assistant or staff engineer (taking care of all the technical details to keep the session running) as well as some of my own recordings and productions.

Berklee College of Music

While at Berklee, I majored in Music Production and Engineering. This experience taught me both the ins and outs of the music industry, from understanding the financial picture, to the technical details of pro audio equipment, to the artistic subtleties of producing, arranging, and crafting a mix. A few examples of my projects include:

Jesse Terry's "Violet" (live studio session that I engineered, produced by Tim College)

Blue Jay Studio

I did an internship at Blue Jay Studio in 2001-2002 right when it was sold from the original owner, Bob Lawson, to Marcus Siskind and Kevin Richardson (from the Backstreet Boys). While several big named artists, such as Aerosmith, Jay Giles, and Lady Gaga, recorded there, I wasn't around for those sessions, although I did a couple sessions with Phil Greene (known for recording and mixing the New Kids on the Block).

While later working as an audio technician at Sonic Circus, I was part of a team that upgraded and installed a Neve VR console into Blue Jay, replacing the previous Solid State Logic console.

Longview Farm Studios

I was a staff engineering at Longview Farm Studios in North Brookfield, MA, from 2002-2004. This studio was a residential studio, isolated from the city, where the musicians would stay througout the session. I worked as a staff engineer on projects including Mos Def, Hanson, Blondie, Thursday, Pascifier, Brides of Destruction (Nikki Sixx), and (my favorite, musically speaking) Blonde Redhead.

Freelance Work

While I was mostly given the title as an "assistant engineer" on most projects and given limited control over the artistic and sonic landscape, I undertook several projects as both producer or engineer. Notably, the Jon Frederik band, Dave's Gone Mad, Joe Summer and others.
